I salute the Ethel and Julius Rosenberg Peace Initiative for organizing this critically important conference to revive and reinvigorate the international peace movement. The global pandemic has weakened economies, exacerbated already grotesque levels of inequality and demobilized the spectacular, massive global protests in 2019 against the status quo. The alarming rise of authoritarianism worldwide is an existential threat to democracy, freedom of expression and tolerance. The international peace movement must take on the fight for human rights, equality and democracy by demonstrating that democratic governance and freedom of expression deliver a better quality of life for humanity. We wish you every success with this conference and the beginnings of a truly international Peace movement.
