On Thursday, September 9, a meeting of the Israeli section of the International Anti-Fascist Forum (IAF) took place at the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.
The MAF-2021 Israeli section was organized by the Foundation for the Support and Development of Jewish Culture, Traditions, Education and Science with the project “Memorializing of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Revival of the culture of struggle for peace” and Rossotrudnichestvo.
The section was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Israel Anatoly Viktorov, representatives of Israeli veteran organizations, historians and public figures.
In his speech, Anatoly Viktorov noted that Russia and Israel take a consistent position on countering fascism, and Israel is doing a lot of work to memorialize the feat of the Red Army in the fight against Nazism.
The chairman of the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots (KSORS) in Israel, Max Perelstein, declared the inadmissibility of the rehabilitation of Nazism and Nazi collaborators, which is in full swing in a number of states of the former USSR.
In 2021, the world Nazism began to pose the greatest danger since 1945 to both peoples and states … The previous approaches of the fight against Nazism, based exclusively on the prevention of revanche and the fight against the distortion of historical truth, are clearly insufficient nowadays. It is necessary to form an international world front to fight the new Nazism. Only such a united Internationale can provide support to the forces that are fighting against Nazism in their countries, primarily in Europe, ”said Mikhail Chernov, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for the Support of Jewish Culture.
He spoke on the work of the Foundation and the implementation of the project “Memorializing of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Revival of the culture of struggle for peace”.
“The new Nazism in various countries … the first and one of its main victims is the Jews. The threat of physical destruction of Jewish communities is becoming a reality. The Jews of Israel and other countries are more interested than others in the anti-Nazi front and the support of world forces capable to fight the Nazism,» Chernov said.
